We warmly invite you to an inspiring dinner hosted by Rotaract Club Zurich International, where we are pleased to welcome our guest speaker, Paolo Rodi.
This session will explore high-altitude illnesses from both a medical and public health perspective, with a focus on the real risks faced by climbers and trekkers worldwide—especially in remote areas where access to care is limited.
The talk will include insights from a recent expedition in Argentina, where a lightweight CPAP-based approach was tested as a potential tool for managing altitude-related conditions in the field. This will serve as a practical example of how innovation can be adapted to extreme environments.
The discussion will also examine the Nepalese context, highlighting the working conditions of guides and porters, as well as the social and cultural dynamics of mountain tourism. Particular attention will be given to unequal exposure to risk and the broader implications for safety and sustainability in high-altitude regions.
